FAQ | Diesel Engine Oil Leaks
Oil leaks are usually caused by worn gaskets, bad seals, high crankcase pressure, and turbocharger seal failure. Using cheap oil or clogged ventilation systems can make the problem worse.
AMSOIL can help reduce minor leaks by conditioning old seals, but it won't fix cracked gaskets or major mechanical problems. It's preventative—not a miracle in a bottle.
Turbo oil leaks happen when internal seals wear out or the oil return line gets blocked. Crankcase pressure can also push oil past the seals. Use clean oil and make sure the drain is clear.
Blue smoke, low oil levels, wet spots under the engine, or oil near the turbo are signs. A leak becomes serious if it affects oil pressure or risks a fire hazard.
No. Synthetic oils like AMSOIL clean out sludge that hides old leaks. It doesn't cause leaks—it reveals and helps reduce them with seal conditioners.
