AMSOIL Bypass Systems

A micron is a tiny unit of measurement, equal to one millionth of a meter. To put it in perspective, a single strand of human hair is about 75 microns thick, while a speck of household dust measures around 40 microns.

Absolute efficiency refers to a filter's capability to capture wear-inducing impurities with an impressive efficiency rate of 98-99 percent, ensuring they don't circulate within the engine. All AMSOIL Oil Filters boast an impressive filtering efficiency of 98.7 percent at 20 microns. In simpler terms, they eliminate 98.7 percent of particles sized 20 microns and larger each time the oil passes through them. With each circulation, the filter further enhances its efficiency, significantly reducing wear and extending engine life.

Absolutely! AMSOIL Bypass Systems are versatile and suitable for a wide range of vehicles, spanning from everyday passenger cars to heavy-duty trucks. While beneficial across various applications, they offer maximum advantages in diesel vehicles due to their higher soot content.

No need to worry! Installing an AMSOIL Bypass System won't jeopardize your engine warranty or reduce your vehicle's resale value. If the new owner prefers not to utilize the bypass system, it can be effortlessly removed without any hassle.

Unlike OPS, AMSOIL Bypass Systems don't incorporate a heating unit for a crucial reason. Liquid contaminants such as water, fuel, and coolant cannot be effectively filtered using standard full-flow or bypass filters. In fact, heating elements in some systems may potentially cause harm, as elevated temperatures can accelerate oil breakdown. Additionally, when fuel or coolant mixes with oil, the heating element becomes ineffective. Thankfully, when water blends with oil, it naturally evaporates once the oil reaches normal operating temperatures, rendering a heating element unnecessary.

If your diesel engine features exhaust gas recirculation (EGR), soot from the exhaust is reintroduced into the engine's intake, constantly replenishing soot particles in your oil. While a typical full-flow oil filter efficiently removes particles sized 20 microns and larger, an AMSOIL Bypass Filter excels at capturing particles down to 2 microns. However, it may not capture all soot particles smaller than 2 microns, which contribute to the darkening of the oil. Fortunately, AMSOIL synthetic diesel oils contain robust dispersant additives that effectively keep these minute soot contaminants suspended, preventing them from amalgamating and forming larger, wear-inducing impurities.
