Protects Flat-Tappet Cams
Flat-tappet camshafts, which are used in both vintage and high-performance vehicles, have lifters and cam lobes that glide swiftly against one another, creating tremendous friction and heat. The cam may eventually become worn out from friction between the two parts, which will impair valve action and lower engine output. Furthermore, these sections of the engine are splash-lubricated rather than pressure-lubricated, which puts additional stress on anti-wear additives like the zinc and phosphorus in zinc dialkyldithiophosphate (ZDDP).
High quantities of ZDDP are used in the formulation of AMSOIL Z-ROD Synthetic Motor Oil to protect flat-tappet cams, lifters, rockers, and other wear-prone areas. These essential splash lubricated components benefit from the additional wear protection that its high-zinc, high-phosphorus composition offers.
Provides Long-Term Protection from Rust & Corrosion
A special combination of rust and corrosion inhibitors is used in the formulation of Z-ROD Synthetic Motor Oil to provide the highest level of protection during long-term storage. AMSOIL submitted Z-ROD Synthetic Motor Oil to the Standard Test Method for Rust Protection by Metal Preservatives in the Humidity Cabinet in order to demonstrate its efficacy (ASTM D1748-10). This test assesses an oil's ability to prevent rust in high-humidity environments that are comparable to those seen in a damp garage when a hot rod is covered. No rust was visible on the metal coupon that had been treated with AMSOIL Z-ROD Synthetic Motor Oil.
