Not the Boardroom.
The story behind a veteran-owned AMSOIL dealership
Vyscocity's founder started in the military reserves while working full-time as a truck and coach mechanic and hauling gravel. Equipment wasn't serviced in a climate-controlled shop on a fixed schedule — it was kept running under real-world conditions, on a budget, with no margin for failure. That environment doesn't produce sales instincts. It produces mechanical ones.
First overseas deployment during NATO's stabilization mission in the former Yugoslavia. Assigned as the Task Force Commander's driver and personal protection — a role built entirely on trust and judgment. You don't put just anyone in that seat in a post-conflict zone.
Went regular force with 2nd Regiment Royal Canadian Horse Artillery, serving across multiple batteries over twelve years. Lost reserve rank on transfer and started back at the bottom — earned it all back. Retired as a Warrant Officer.
The original plan was to open a dirt bike shop. AMSOIL came up as a product worth carrying — something to recommend from genuine experience, not a catalog. Started selling to coworkers and friends on the side. A mechanic recommending oil he already used — the same year as Afghanistan.
Deployed to Afghanistan with Task Force 3-06 during Operation Medusa — the largest Canadian combat operation since the Korean War. Operated in a specialized fire support role responsible for coordinating artillery and aviation assets across the battlespace. At that operational tempo, you understand viscerally what equipment performance means — and what the cost of failure looks like.
Served as Master Door Gunner with 450 Tactical Helicopter Squadron. New platform, new demands, same standard. Equipment doesn't care what uniform you're wearing. It either performs or it doesn't.
After Afghanistan, friends kept calling asking for oil recommendations. Got invited to an AMSOIL dealer meeting — walked in skeptical. Asked the dealer what he did for a living. He said: sold AMSOIL. That was the answer. No commission ceiling. No corporate ladder. No one getting promoted because they knew the right people. After years of watching rank go to the wrong people for the wrong reasons, a system built purely on effort and results was the only thing that made sense. The direction was set.
Released medically after 28 years of service. Reserves, regular force, Bosnia, Afghanistan, aviation — and a Red Seal 310T earned along the way. Vyscocity incorporated in December 2019. The full-time mission.
"If someone else can do it, so can I. There's always room for one more."

AMSOIL wasn't a random business opportunity. It was a product already in use — recommended to coworkers, trusted in the field, believed in before there was any financial reason to believe in it. The dealership came later. The conviction came first.
A Red Seal 310T means understanding what happens inside an engine under load — cold starts, extended service intervals, conditions the OEM never tested for. That background doesn't produce a better sales pitch. It produces better advice. When a fleet manager asks whether Signature Series is worth it over OE for their application, the answer comes from experience, not a brochure.
AMSOIL ships factory-direct. No warehouse markups, no middleman inventory sitting on a shelf. You order, it ships from AMSOIL's North American distribution network directly to your door — USA and Canada. Vyscocity's job is making sure you're ordering the right product in the first place.
